Gone Girl (Reborn): Title Sequence

Styleframe sequence design

SOFTWARE - Lightroom, After Effects, Photoshop

Gone Girl portrays the decayed marriage of Nick and Amy, a couple who appeared perfect to everyone. Nick's infidelity and Amy's obsession with "perfection" eventually lead to her disappearance, cornering Nick and binding him to her life. What I focused on was the transformation within her. Though she was reluctant to admit it, she ultimately recognizes and confronts the violence and cruelty within herself.

I wanted to express her transformation through the imagery of emerging from a cocoon, symbolizing her struggle as she thrashes inside it. When she finally breaks free from the fabric, the shift from warm tones to green hues illustrates her acceptance of her psychopathic side.

The initial shots were designed to be ambiguous to spark the viewers' curiosity. Gradually revealing parts of her body helped to build an understanding of the story. When she was, quite literally, the "Gone Girl," the director's name was shown.
