Role - 2d illustration
In the film, Everything Everywhere All At Once, it shows the endless possibilities of unconstrained styles and imagination in every universe. We achieved this by overlapping 2D illustration elements that foreshadow the characters on top of photographs and 3D that represents the multiuniverse. We want to deliver a sense of dynamic movement and the feeling of traveling through different dimensions.
Each animal represents the protagonists in the film. It contains their desire in the animal. Also, how family becomes to understand each other, and things are circling around is what I want to show in this project.
Brainstorming and exchanging thoughts
We shared our thoughts and brainstorming with lots of images. Especially, I put images to express what 2D image would be look like. And annotated on the top of images to make sure we are on the same pages.
Making installation
I directed the installation for the infinite tunnels inside the google eyes. I made a infinite box with double side glasses and put laser cut materials with RGB lights on to make an endless tunnel effect. Each tunnel should be different, so I used different lights, materials, and rgb lines, even glass marbles to express the bizarre feelings.
I took at least more than 100 photos to make sure to have all different infinite tunnels.
I also directed this installation alone. After drawing lines, I used several acrylic paintings and glue gun. In the middle, I put the beads and took a photo.
Process of Procreate
My teammate did drawings from procreate.
Compositing process - Photoshop, C4d, Davinci Resolve, Nuke, Houdini, Drawing, Shading, Lighting
For compositing, I put the 2d animals in each designated place and started to shade to make it look like corresponding with the environment. Make it dark in the back, and put lights on the top of animal’s body. Also I mixed two environments to make it look like those tunnels are connected to each others. Nuke, Davinci, and Houdini are used for compositing to be perfect.
Typography is upside down or flipped to represent the everything everywhere all at once. I drew the feathers on the top of Cinema 4d hair I made. Lastly, I wrapped all different animal lines in the typography to show harmony and connection.
